I want to provide an update on my work over the past month and show you what I have been doing to serve you in the other Washington. From supporting a bipartisan effort to expand the Basic Needs Allowance Program to help support military families to announcing federal funding to complete the Sumner Stewart Road Project, I have been listening to your concerns and fighting to deliver on the issues you care about.

Strickland Honors Vietnam War Veterans With Pinning Ceremony

Hosted a Vietnam War-era Veterans Pinning Ceremony to honor over 46 local veterans, in partnership with the U.S. Vietnam Veterans Pin Commission.

Strickland Announces $2.8 Million For Sumner Stewart Road Completion

U.S. Representative Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) announced $2,800,000 in federal funding for the City of Sumner’s Stewart Road project that includes the repair and expansion of the White River Bridge to allow more freight to pass through the area, along with restoring 170 acres of nearby floodplain.

Strickland Calls on Feds to Investigate Financial Impact of Digital Store-Issued Coupons on Seniors, Low-Income Shoppers

U.S. Representative Marilyn Strickland led 13 House colleagues in a letter to Samuel Levine, Director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection, urging the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to investigate the potential financial impacts of digital store-issued coupons on seniors, low-income persons, and others without reliable digital access as more and more stores switch to digital-only formats.

Strickland Calls for Expanded Access to Basic Needs Allowance for Servicemembers

U.S. Representative Marilyn Strickland joined 19 colleagues in a bipartisan, bicameral letter to Senate and House Armed Services Committee leadership, urging them to retain language in the FY2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) eliminating the Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) from income calculations when determining eligibility for the Department of Defense’s (DoD) Basic Need Allowance (BNA) program.
