Today, U.S. Representative Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) announced her February Constituent Spotlight, Shellie Willis. After 25 years of service in the U.S. Army, Willis is now an advocate for veterans and servicewomen across Pierce County as Founder and CEO of the Redefining You Foundation.
“With the South Sound’s large active duty and veteran population, Shellie’s work plays a critical role in supporting servicewomen and empowering female veterans,” said U.S. Rep. Strickland. “I am proud to have her as my constituent of the month.”
“Many of our service members are excited about the next step in their life and only need a little support and guidance to get them there,” said Shellie Willis. “Working with them to find the right career to use the skills and knowledge they have developed while in service of their country is my way of giving back to the community I called home for 25 years.”
As Founder and CEO of the Redefining You Foundation Shellie works to empower servicewomen, women veterans, and their spouses through professional and personal development training. The foundation works with women across the county, creating programs that help redefine lifestyles and perspectives to facilitate a smooth transition following military service.
In addition to her work at Redefining You, Willis also works to build a vital economy and strong local workforce as Senior Director of Collective Impact at WorkForce Central, connecting jobseekers with employment opportunities throughout Pierce County.
Congresswoman Strickland’s Constituent Spotlight program recognizes exemplary South Sound residents. To nominate a resident of Washington’s 10th Congressional District fill out this nomination form.
