Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland represents Washington’s 10th Congressional District, covering parts of Pierce and Thurston Counties. Strickland is Whip of the New Democrat Coalition and Secretary of the Congressional Black Caucus.
Serving on the House Armed Services Committee, Strickland secured a 14.5% pay increase for junior enlisted servicemembers, increased the housing supply on and surrounding Joint Base Lewis-McChord, and restored the Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) back to 100%.
In the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Strickland secured nearly $120 million from the bipartisan Infrastructure, Investment, and Jobs Act (IIJA) for broadband, clean water, public transit, road maintenance, and more in the South Sound.
Strickland is the first African American to represent Washington state and the Pacific Northwest on the federal level and is one of the first Korean American women elected to Congress.
