Lacey, WA — Today, Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) announced $850,000 in federal funding to improve the City of Tenino’s capacity for meat processing, a major need in the regional market.
“There is a growing agriculture industry in the South Sound,” said Strickland. “This funding will support local producers and ranchers, by providing essential infrastructure so they can stay competitive in the regional meat processing market.”
“We are grateful to Congresswoman Strickland for working to secure $850k in federal funding to install infrastructure in support of a regional-scale meat processing facility to be located at the Agriculture Innovation Park in Tenino. This federal funding continues the park’s success at developing true public/private partnerships dedicated to uplifting the financial viability of local farms and ranches. The City of Tenino is proud to help fill this clearly identified gap in our region’s food supply chain, ensuring resiliency and food security,” said David Watterson, City of Tenino Mayor.
This funding is being used to create a local meat supply chain and provide reliable processing equipment, increase profits for local producers and ranchers, and expand food production options.
This award is one of the FY26 Community Project Funding (CPF) grants Congresswoman Strickland secured. Read more about these projects here.
