KOMO News Arc Seattle: What the reclassification of marijuana means for the US

Rep. Marilyn Strickland, who represents Washington’s 10th Congressional District, joined anchors Steve McCarron & Holly Menino to talk about the reclassification, what it means, the impact on communities and people of color, and how it could impact the future of the proposed SAFER Banking Act in Congress.

President Joe Biden and the U.S. Department of Justice recently announced the reclassification of cannabis from a Schedule I drug to a Schedule III drug.

The reclassification means the DEA considers the drug at moderate to low potential for physical and psychological abuse and puts it on the same level as testosterone and Tylenol. However, the reclassification does not legalize the drug for recreational use on a federal level.
