Dear Friend,
As we start the new year, I wanted to update you on my work over the past month and what I have been doing to serve you in the other Washington. From delivering thousands of valentines to veterans and first responders in South Sound to passing a bipartisan tax bill that helps working families, I have been listening to your concerns and fighting to deliver on the issues you care about.
Keeping It Local
This Black History Month we recognize and honor the many contributions of Black Americans. From authors and artists to civil rights activists and leaders, Black Americans are an integral part of our society.
Black History Is American History.
The Congresswoman spoke with students at a local school about her role in Congress, and the Valentines for Veterans and First Responders program.
During the annual Valentines for Veterans and First Responders drive, the Office of U.S. Representative Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) delivered over 4,000 handmade valentine’s cards to veterans and first responders throughout the South Sound.
U.S. Representative Marilyn Strickland announced her February Constituent Spotlight, Shellie Willis. After 25 years of service in the U.S. Army, Willis is now an advocate for veterans and servicewomen across Pierce County as Founder and CEO of the Redefining You Foundation.

- The Puyallup Food Bank was awarded a $50K federal grant award from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development Program to provide mobile food processing equipment & assist rural small businesses throughout Pierce County.
- Continued to support federally funded, affordable housing projects across the South Sound, that help address our housing crunch.

Strickland Helps Pass Bipartisan Tax Bill
I came to Congress to deliver common sense solutions and this bipartisan tax bill does just that. Tax relief to address our housing crunch and to help 273K Washington children is real relief, tangible for families.
Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland released a statement in response to Speaker Mike Johnson’s Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act.
Other Legislative Work
- Encouraged Speaker Johnson and House Republicans to continue funding the Affordable Connectivity Program, which provides essential and more affordable internet access to over 33k homes in the South Sound.
- Marked what should have been the 51st anniversary of Roe v Wade by continuing to defend reproductive freedom across the county.
