Olympia, WA– Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland announced that Washington State will receive over $898 million in new federal funding under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to create thousands of good-paying jobs for Washingtonians that will improve roads and bridges across the state.  This is the first round of funding authorized by this new law.

“With this new funding from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, we will be able to start fixing our  roads and bridges so that South Sound residents travel on infrastructure that is safe and reliable,” said Congresswoman Strickland. “Thanks to the bold leadership from President Biden, House Democrats and our entire delegation, these federal dollars will be critical in taking much-needed steps to rebuild our state’s roads and bridges while creating thousands of good-paying jobs. South Sound residents can look forward to cuts in commute times and the ability to help small businesses get goods to market in more efficient ways. I was proud to vote for this historic legislation – which will make a tremendous difference in the lives of South Sound residents – and I look forward to seeing more federal funding from the bipartisan infrastructure law flow into our communities.”

The historic and bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, signed into law by President Biden on November 15th, secured new federal funding for highway and bridge repair for communities across the nation. The funds, administered by the Federal-aid Highway Program, can be used for the construction, reconstruction or improvement. The American Society of Civil Engineers gave Washington State a C on its Infrastructure Report Card, finding many deficiencies that require immediate attention. With this funding – and more to come over the next five years – the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will create good-paying union jobs strengthening this crippled infrastructure.

Under the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the following will be allocated to Washington State programs to improve roads, bridges, and highways:
