Lakewood, WA Today, Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) announced $250,000 in federal funding for the City of Edgewood’s Interurban Trail.

“The federal funding will further connect our South Sound communities and improve access to outdoor recreation for the entire region,” said Strickland. “Completing the trail is an investment that will make the South Sound a better place to live, work, and play.”

“Completing the Interurban Trail is an ambitious project. It’s going to take multiple agencies working together to succeed. Congresswoman Strickland has been an integral partner for Edgewood as we move forward on completing this active transportation corridor that will connect nine cities over a 19-mile stretch,” said City of Edgewood Mayor, Dave Olson.

The funding would be used to support the City of Edgewood’s Interurban Trail Phase III. This construction of a one-mile-long segment of the trail would complete one of the last remaining gaps between the West Valley Highway and 114th Avenue East in Pierce County.

This award is one of the FY26 Community Project Funding (CPF) grants Congresswoman Strickland secured. Read more about these projects here.
