Lakewood, WA — Today, Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) and U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) announced $850,000 in federal funding for the City of Puyallup’s Meeker Festival Street project.
“Revitalizing the Meeker Festival Street is a smart investment for Puyallup,” said Strickland. “I am proud to secure federal funding that makes our communities more safe, attractive, and vibrant.”
“This investment is a tremendous win for Puyallup,” said Puyallup Mayor Ned Witting. “Congresswoman Strickland’s advocacy and Senator Cantwell’s support helped bring this funding home. We are so grateful for their continued commitment to our community. This funding, coupled with our investment in streetscapes and private investment in housing and storefronts, will bring incredible vitality to our downtown. It will make it a place where residents and visitors can connect, congregate and celebrate.”
The project will activate an area of Puyallup’s downtown that has been historically underutilized. Aging utilities will be replaced, pavement will be restored, and the streetscape infrastructure will be improved. The street will function as a vital link in the downtown street network, while being able to temporarily close to vehicle traffic for events. This award is one of the FY26 Community Project Funding (CPF) grants Congresswoman Strickland secured. Read more about these projects here.
