I wanted to update you on my work over the past month. From visiting local producers with economic footprints across the region to hearing from Seniors about Social Security and the issues impacting them most, I continue to hear your feedback and deliver on what you care about most.
Keeping it Local
Toured Farms and Agriculture Centers Across the South Sound
Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) spent August visiting several agricultural centers and farms to highlight products that are uniquely grown in the South Sound, and to hear from farmers how the federal government can better assist them.
Joined Older Americans in Thurston County
Congresswoman Strickland met with Senior Services for South Sound and its members to discuss Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, and how the federal government can continue to help older Americans at home.
Attended National Night Out in Fircrest
Congresswoman Strickland attended the City of Fircrest National Night Out to recognize the city’s 100th anniversary and to show support for the partnership between local police, first responders, and the community.
Joined the Korean American Community
Congresswoman Strickland joined the Korean American Chamber of Commerce to recognize the hundreds of Korean American job creators in the South Sound. These small businesses provide jobs, support our economy, and tell the shared history between the US and Korea.

- Joined the Puyallup Tribe’s Vice Chairwoman Miller and the team to tour their chocolate factory.
- Launched the Congressional Award Challenge in the South Sound. The award is an opportunity for ages 14-24 to earn Congress’ highest honor.

Strickland Stands Up for Seniors and Americans with Disabilities
Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) sent a letter, alongside Representatives Jan Schakowsky (IL-09) and Robin Kelly (IL-02), to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. calling for the reinstatement of Regional Administrators at the Administration for Community Living (ACL).
Other Legislative Action
- Signed the New Democrat Coalition and Tri-Caucus Letter to Leadership on Fair Housing Funding, urging House Leadership to defend funding for historically bipartisan housing-related anti-discrimination programs.
- Joined the Stopping the Theft and Destruction of Broadband Act of 2025, to prohibit the destruction of broadband internet access service.
