Dear Friend,
I wanted to update you on my work over the past month. From breaking ground on over 200 new homes at JBLM to launching the Congressional Art Competition to reintroducing my Basic Allowance for Housing Restoration Act, I continue to deliver on the issues that you care about.
Keeping it Local
JBLM Meriwether Landing Groundbreaking

Helped secure funding for an additional 200+ housing units at JBLM. In Congress, a top priority of mine is to make sure servicemembers and their families have access to safe and affordable housing options.
Yelm and Social Security Telephone Townhalls

Joined a Townhall in Yelm and hosted a Telephone-Townhall alongside special guest, former Social Security Administrator Marin O’Malley. I always appreciate hearing constituent concerns about access to health care, the VA, and Social Security.
Launched 5th Annual Congressional Art Competition

My office is accepting submissions for the 2025 Congressional Art Competition. This annual program is an opportunity to recognize, honor, and encourage young artistic talent in the South Sound and across the nation.
More from South Sound
- Joined the Puyallup Tribe and Northwest Seaport Alliance as they signed a history-making agreement to create a new pier on the Blair Waterway at the Port of Tacoma.
- Spoke with KUOW about the President’s Joint Address to Congress, funding cuts, federal firings, and more.
Updates from the Other Washington
Strickland Leads Bipartisan Bill for Intergenerational Caregiving

Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (WA-10), alongside Rep. Bryan Steil (WI-01) introduced the bipartisan Care Across Generations Act. The bill establishes a grant program for long-term care facilities to operate or contract with a childcare program to facilitate intergenerational activities.
Strickland, Bacon, Warnock Push to Fully Restore Servicemember Housing Allowance

Congresswoman Strickland and Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02) reintroduced the Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) Restoration Act to address the housing crunch that servicemembers and their families face. The legislation would ensure that the Department of Defense (DoD) restores the full BAH benefit and increases access to affordable housing, on and off base.
Other Legislative Action
- On Rare Disease Day, introduced the Health Equity and Rare Disease (HEARD) Act to addresses the many obstacles faced by rare disease patients.
- Attended the Democrats Issues Conference, and joined press conferences hosted by the New Democrat Coalition and the Congressional Black Caucus to talk about the President’s Administration and Elon Musk.
- Joined Abby Phillip on CNN NewsNight to discuss President Trump and Elon Musk and how cuts to Medicaid (Apple Health) would impact Washingtonians.
