Strickland Presents Zain Shariff as 2024 Congressional App Challenge Winner
Congresswoman Strickland announced Zain Shariff, as the winner of the 2024 Congressional App Challenge for Washington’s 10th Congressional District.
Strickland Secures $1M for Deschutes Estuary Restoration Project
Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) announced $1,000,000 in federal funding for the Washington State Department of Enterprise Services (DES) to help restore 260 acres of estuary habitat at the Deschutes River.

- Announced $850k in federal funding for pedestrian and vehicle safety improvements along the College Street corridor in Lacey.
- With the help of my Service Academy Board, nominated 22 students to attend the four prestigious U.S. Service Academies.
- Secured over $1.6 million in federal funding to develop a Community Hub at Thruston County Food Bank’s Lacey location and help address hunger in the South Sound.

Strickland Elected Secretary of Congressional Black Caucus
Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) was elected by her Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) colleagues to serve as the CBC Secretary in the 119th Congress.
Strickland, Lawmakers Reintroduce Legislation Addressing Unsafe Conditions in Privatized Military Housing
Congresswoman Strickland, Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Representative Sara Jacobs (CA-51), and Delegate James Moylan (R-Guam) introduced the Military Housing Oversight and Service Member Protection Act. This bipartisan and bicameral legislation reforms the privatized military housing system and responds to disturbing reports that have revealed unsafe and unsanitary conditions for service members and their families.
Other Legislative Action
- Joined a letter led by Reps. Frankel and Chu to the Biden Administration urging improvements to coverage of birth control under the Affordable Care Act.
- Joined a letter with Reps. DelBene, Gluesenkamp-Perez, and Schrier asking leadership to include National Landslide Preparedness Act in an end of year package.
