Lacey, WA – Today, Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) announced $850,000 in federal funding to increase safety along the College Street corridor in Lacey.

“Our neighborhoods thrive when we are able to safely connect with one another,” said Strickland. “Prioritizing roadway improvements on College Street will promote safety and accessibility that will benefit all residents.”

“This has been a desperately needed priority project for Lacey and the region for decades to improve pedestrian and traffic safety on a major corridor. The community would not be this close to better protect the children of an elementary and middle school impacted by the project without Rep. Strickland’s commitment and leadership to secure this funding toward completion. On behalf of our grateful constituents, thank you,” said City of Lacey Mayor Andy Ryder.

This funding will help pedestrians and commuters alike, creating accessible sidewalks and safety improvements along the major north-south corridor for the City of Lacey and surrounding communities.

This award is one of the 14 FY24 Community Project Funding (CPF) grants Congresswoman Strickland secured. Read more about these projects here: https://strickland.house.gov/media/press-releases/strickland-secures-over-13-million-south-sound
