Lacey, WA – Today, Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) announced $1,666,279 in federal funding to develop a Community Hub at Thurston County Food Bank’s Lacey location.

“Too many of our South Sound neighbors struggle to put food on the table,” said Strickland. “These dollars will help support families and individuals to get the basic food and human services assistance that they need.”

“Thurston County Food Bank has been serving the community for over 50 years. While food remains at the heart of what we do, the development of the Lacey Community Hub addresses critical needs by reducing barriers to essential services beyond hunger relief,” said Thurston County Food Bank Development Director, Amanda Muñoz. “This collaborative space empowers individuals and families, providing comprehensive support to help break the cycle of hunger and create pathways to lasting stability and resilience.”

This funding is creating a Community Hub at Lacey’s Food Pantry, including building an additional office space for human services partners. The offices will be confidential meeting spaces to help customers address basic needs beyond food.

This award is one of the 14 FY24 Community Project Funding (CPF) grants Congresswoman Strickland secured. Read more about these projects here: https://strickland.house.gov/media/press-releases/strickland-secures-over-13-million-south-sound
