Lacey, WA – Today, Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) announced $875,000 in federal funding to relocate the water mainline that runs along Green Cove Creek in Thurston County.
“Green Cove Creek has served as a safe and productive habitat for local salmon,” said Strickland. “This federal funding preserves the ecosystem, while maintaining safe drinking water for local Thurston County residents.”
This funding will provide Thurston County’s Public Utility Department (PUD) with essential resources to maintain clean water for residents while replacing a failing culvert that is critical for maintaining local salmon populations.
This award is one of the 14 FY24 Community Project Funding (CPF) grants Congresswoman Strickland secured. Read more about these projects here: https://strickland.house.gov/media/press-releases/strickland-secures-over-13-million-south-sound
