Today, Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) announced her April Constituent Spotlight, Dr. Nichole Ayres, the Clinic Director at the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Valley Cities.

“It is absolutely vital that our large active duty and veteran population have access to high-quality mental health care.” said U.S. Rep. Strickland. “Dr. Ayres’ leadership and dedication have helped thousands of veterans, servicemembers, and their families – she’s an exemplary South Sound resident.”

Under Ayres’ leadership, the clinic has provided high-quality mental health services to over 6,000 clients since its opening in 2019. She is passionate about building teams and an organizational culture that fosters inclusivity, wholeheartedness, and innovation throughout the community.

“We frequently thank veterans for their service, but I would challenge us all to show that thanks by listening to the mental health needs of the military and veteran community, learning about the impact of military life, and supporting organizations that are on the ground doing the work.” said Dr. Nichole Ayres.

Ayres and her team have served nearly 650 active-duty service members, 3,000 military family members, 2,000 veterans, and 1,000 military children at the clinic.

Dr. Ayres is also a military spouse of over 14 years. She is an active member of the Joint Base Lewis-McChord community supporting military families through the challenges of deployment and redeployment.

Congresswoman Strickland’s Constituent Spotlight program recognizes exemplary South Sound residents.
