Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) released the following statement in response to MAGA extremist Mike Johnson’s attempt to undermine the Senate’s comprehensive, bipartisan funding package that secures our border and addresses global security.
“Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East, and my support for her right to defend herself against terrorists and their enablers is steadfast. I will not, however, vote for a cynical political ploy that pits one democratic ally against others. We have a sacred duty to support all of our democratic allies as they fight for their existence. I will support a serious, bipartisan proposal that upholds our promises to all of our allies and includes much-needed humanitarian aid to the people affected by war.
Democracy is at stake in the Middle East, Ukraine, and the Indo-Pacific. I will not allow partisan games to dictate national and global security, and will vote NO on H.R. 7217.”
