Lakewood, WA – Today, U.S. Representative Marilyn Strickland announced $3 million in federal funding for the construction of a youth mentoring and tutoring center, a WIC Multicare office, and a food and clothing bank for the Bethel School District.
“Children and families deserve access to mentoring, food and clothing assistance, and other necessities,” said U.S. Rep. Strickland. “I’m proud to bring federal funding for The Bethel Family Center project that will deliver critical services to support residents and students of the Bethel School District.”
“As a school district in an unincorporated part of the county, we have been working for decades to help offset the lack of resources in our area,” said Bethel School District Superintendent Tom Seigel. “But finding funding is never easy. The Bethel Family Center project, funded by the hard work of Representative Marilyn Strickland, will make an impact for generations to come, by providing local access to a variety of helpful resources for families in need.”
The Bethel Family Services Center offers basic-needs services and programming for the Spanaway and larger Pierce County communities.
This award is one of the 14 FY23 Community Project Funding (CPF) grants Congresswoman Strickland secured. Read more about these projects here: https://strickland.house.gov/media/press-releases/strickland-secures-19-million-south-sound
