Lacey, WA – Today, U.S. Representative Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) announced $2.6 million for Washington State Patrol as part of the FY 2023 National Criminal History Improvement Program (NCHIP) project grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs to improve public safety and modernize criminal history records keeping systems.
“A modern, accessible, and effective criminal history records system is critical to enhancing public safety in the South Sound and Washington state,” said Rep. Strickland. “This funding is a strong investment in the long-term safety of our communities.”
The Office of Justice Programs provides federal leadership and support through grants, training, technical assistance and other resources to assist agencies across the country. The NCHIP gives technical assistance to localities to help boost the quality, timeliness, and access of criminal history records. The grant funding will help to establish a record program that fits these components.
