Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) announced her April Constituent Spotlight, Army Veteran Layne Harper. Harper is recognized for his incredible work serving over 10,000 fellow veterans as a Veteran Service Officer (VSO) for the National Association of Black Veterans (NABVETS).
“Layne exemplifies the values of service and commitment to community that run deep in the South Sound,” said Strickland. “As a veteran himself, he’s worked to improve the lives of thousands of others over the years. Layne is a remarkable constituent. I’m honored to highlight his service this month.”
“It is a pleasure to serve this great state with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding about the Veterans Administration to assist the Veteran Service Office with knowledge in processing claims and services for Veterans,” said Harper.
As the Veterans Service Officer for NABVETS, Harper has ensured that veterans and their dependents receive their disability benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs in Washington state, the county, and abroad.
Prior to his work with NABVETS, Harper founded the Caribbean Veterans Service (CARICOM) and received accreditations from his work with the Jewish War Veterans of the U.S.A. and the African American Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Association (AAPTSDA).
Harper’s dedication to service was singled out and greatly appreciated by Veterans across Washington state.
