This week, Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) announced her March Constituent Spotlight is on Keoki Kauanoe in Olympia, WA. Kauanoe is being recognized for his work as Director of Father Engagement at Family Education and Support Services (FESS), especially his classes focused on Suicide Prevention.
“Keoki is a remarkable leader and educator here in the South Sound,” said Strickland. “He is a fierce advocate for youth, students, and families in his community. He knows the value in equity and education, for both families and students.”
“I am honored to be included in Congresswoman Strickland’s Constituent Spotlight program because her work connecting veterans and families to better education and greater opportunities means healthier outcomes, safer, and stronger communities for us all. Thank you, Congresswoman Strickland,” said Kauanoe.
FESS and Kauanoe are committed to helping families across the 10th Congressional District and Washington state with much-needed resources to include diapers, vaccinations, food, clothing, and parent education classes for families.
One of his most impactful classes have been the QPR Suicide Prevention Training classes and is why he was nominated.
Kauanoe has served as a K-12 grade teacher in the Olympia School District and sits on the board of the Equity in Education Coalition and the Thurston County DEI Committee. As a member of the state’s DCYF Citizens Review Panel, he has been tasked with developing and recommending transformative actions to better protect youth and preserve families.
As a part of this spotlight, Congresswoman Strickland will be recognizing Keoki Kauanoe in the Congressional Record.
