Rep. Marilyn Strickland says Derek Chauvin’s trial will be a ‘proof-point’

Rep. Marilyn Strickland (D-Wash.) says the trial of Derek Chauvin will be a litmus test on whether we can trust institutions to do the right thing.

“This is going to be a proof-point of whether or not people can have their faith restored in our government systems,” she said.

Former Housing and Urban Development secretary Julián Castro added, “I am hopeful it is an inflection point. Also, of course, hopeful that this defendant is going to be found guilty because I’m afraid of what’s going to happen if he’s not.”
