Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) was appointed as Chair of the New Democrat Coalition’s National Security Task Force. This role will strengthen her advocacy for servicemembers and their families in Washington’s 10th District.
“Our country and our allies are safest when Congress effectively exercises its authority to guide national security policy,” said Rep. Strickland. “As the Chair of the New Democrat Coalition National Security Task Force, I will remain laser-focused on delivering for servicemembers, their families, and Americans who are depending on us to roll up our sleeves and get the work done.”
The New Democrat Coalition is a group of nearly 100 House Democrats who are committed to governing and breaking through the gridlock in Washington D.C. to deliver real solutions for issues Americans face.
U.S. Representative Marilyn Strickland serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. She is the CBC whip, a member of the New Democrat Coalition, one of the first Korean-American women elected to Congress, and the first African-American elected to represent the Pacific Northwest at the federal level.
